Sikkim Army Truck accident: 16 soldiers who lost their lives in a road accident in Sikkim will be paid tribute on Saturday (December 24). The Indian Army issued a statement saying that wreaths will be offered to the mortal remains of the jawans at the Bagdogra airport in West Bengal. After this, the dead bodies of the soldiers will be sent to their home towns. On Friday, 16 soldiers of the Indian Army were killed in a tragic accident at Jema in North Sikkim.

How did the accident happen?

According to the army, the military truck that met with an accident in Sikkim was part of a convoy of three vehicles. This convoy was going from Chatten towards Thangu. Meanwhile, this incident happened in Jema. While taking a sharp turn, it fell into a ditch and crashed. 16 heroes lost their lives in this painful accident. Out of which 3 were Junior Commissioned Officers. An immediate rescue operation was launched and four injured jawans were rescued with the help of helicopter.

16 heroes lost their lives

According to the army, those who lost their lives in the accident include Naib Subedar Chandan Kumar Mishra and Naib Subedar Omkar Singh of 285 Medical Regiment, L/Havildar Gopinath Makur, Sepoy Sukha Ram, Havildar Charan Singh and Naik Ravinder Singh Thapa of 26 Mechanized Infantry. . Along with Naik Vaishakh S and Naik Pramod Singh of 221 Field Regiment, four soldiers of 25 Grenadiers – L/Naik Bhupendra Singh, Naik Shyam Singh Yadav, Naik Lokesh Kumar and Grenadier Vikas Kumar – also lost their lives in the accident.

The army said that Subedar Guman Singh and L/Havildar Arvind Singh from 8 Rajasthan Rifles, L/Naik Sombir Singh of 113 Engineer Regiment and L/Naik Manoj Kumar of 1871 Field Regiment were also among the soldiers who lost their lives in the accident. president Draupadi MurmuPrime minister Narendra ModiDefense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed grief for the martyrs and expressed condolences to the bereaved families.
